A missing man whose boat was found abandoned has been named as a local fisherman.
Alasdair Macleod's creel boat Varuna was discovered north of Applecross, Wester Ross, on Monday afternoon.
The fisherman, from Applecross, is believed to have been at the helm when the boat set off.
No trace has been found of the 57-year-old despite a wide-scale search involving the coastguard, RNLI and police.
Sergeant Bruce Crawford said "Sadly our activity has not located Mr Macleod and the search will resume in the morning.
"I'm grateful for the support of the different agencies and volunteers who have come together in an effort to trace Mr Macleod."
