Rush hour rail chaos between Edinburgh and Glasgow
There have been 19 ScotRail train cancellations due to a suspected track defect.
Rail commuters are facing rush hour chaos after a suspected track defect was spotted on the line between Edinburgh and Glasgow.
ScotRail has cancelled 19 of its services across four lines: Edinburgh to Glasgow, Edinburgh to Helensburgh Central, Edinburgh to Dunblane and Milngavie to Edinburgh via Airdrie.
The cancellations are the result of an unscheduled safety inspection on the tracks between Newgate Junction and Edinburgh Park caused by a suspected track defect.
Services on the four lines are expected to be disrupted until around 8pm on Wednesday, with 26 additional services affected by delays and schedule revisions.
Replacement buses are in place at a number of stations, including Polmont, Linlithgow, Bathgate and Dunblane.
The affected rail line between Newgate Junction and Edinburgh Park has since been reopened and trains on the line have returned to full speed.
