Scotland's first dog cafe has announced it will open to the public in next month.

The Edinburgh Chihuahua Cafe will open on Frederick Street on December 1, six months after it first began trialing the idea with pop-up puppy cream tea parties.

Tanya Salitura decided to open the cafe after passers-by regularly stopped to pet and take photographs of her Chihuahua Ama.

The eight Chihuahuas that she cares for will be taken to and from the cafe each day.

The cafe will work in a similar way to Scotland's popular cat cafes where you pre-book a 50-minute slot to interact with the dogs over a coffee.

Ms Salitura said: "We have been doing our pop-up events since June to socialise our dogs and let the public start meeting them ahead of the grand opening.

"This means we already have some loyal fans, which is wonderful and has definitely inspired small business tweaks, such as a loyalty card.

"We aim to bring a little quality time, community and fun to Edinburgh city centre. Our business model is uncomplicated - we focus on a quality, unique dog interaction and really good tea and cake."
