Local drinking spot, the Failford Inn, has won the DogBuddy Dog-friendly Pub Award for Scotland.

In its second year, the award recognises pubs who have a dog-friendly policy across the UK.

The Failford Inn based in Mauchline, East Ayrshire, came out on top and landlady Sara Sutherland was delighted with the win.

Ms Sutherland said: "I literally jumped out my seat when I heard we'd won the title. I absolutely love dogs so this means the world!

"We have a lot of walks in our area and so many people who wouldn't come into our pub if we didn't allow dogs in. We love our doggie customers".

Nine other Scottish pubs were runners up in the competition, and still considered some of the best in the country.

The Sorn Inn, Ayrshire comes in at number two. The pub is located near the River Ayr and is popular during the shooting season.

The dog-friendly inn is praised for its innovative seasonal menu, with many patrons naming it their first port of call for special occasions.

Four-legged friends are heartily welcomed to the old Templeton Building on the Green.

The beer-hall style bar and restaurant is spacious and grand, offering up a German inspired menu, with meals such as Currywurst or Wiener Schnitzel, made with the best Scottish produce.
