Early festive cheer as Christmas market opens in Glasgow
The St Enoch Square extravaganza begins on Thursday with 46 days until Santa visits.
Are you getting that festive feeling yet? The Christmas countdown is on.
With Jesus' birthday only 46 days away, Glaswegians can expect to enjoy some early Christmas cheer with the opening of the popular St Enoch Christmas market later on Thursday.
A second seasonal market will open in George Square on November 25 the week after the city's Christmas lights get switched on.
This year's Christmas market in St Enoch Square will run until December 22, and organisers say it will offer "sparkle and magic" as well as gift ideas, street food and, of course, its trademark German beer.
The twin markets bring together traders and food vendors from around the world.
Glasgow lord provost Eva Bolander said: "With exciting and unusual gift ideas, food and drink from around the country, and the world and a unique festive atmosphere, the Christmas markets will have plenty for the whole family to enjoy.
"The market at St Enoch Square will bring plenty of sparkle and magic to Glasgow this Christmas and will be a perfect place to celebrate the festive period."
Sue Taylor, director at Continental Marketplace, said: "We are very excited to bring a host of fabulous Christmas market traders to Glasgow Loves Christmas.
"We have carefully handpicked the traders to reflect a mix of traditional Christmas stalls visitors love to see each year with some exciting new street food and gift trends from as far afield as South America.
"Creating a visually stunning market was also very important to us - expect beautifully decorated stalls, cosy German beer house style bars and plenty of festive cheer when St Enoch's Christmas market opens on November 9."
The Glasgow Loves Christmas festivities in city centre will also include the Style Mile Carnival on November 26, the Blessing of the Crib on December 6 and the Santa dash on December 10.
