Intruder fired stun gun at victim before stabbing him
Jordan Inglis carried out the attack at his victim's home in Galashiels.
An intruder repeatedly fired a stun gun at a man before stabbing him as he tried to escape.
Jordan Inglis grabbed his victim by the throat and inflicted electric shocks on him about ten times before stabbing him in the attack.
A judge told Inglis, 24, at the High Court in Edinburgh that he had carried out "a terrifying attack on a man in his home".
Lord Armstrong said: "The matter is aggravated by the use of weapons, a stun gun and a knife, with the latter used to inflict severe injury."
Inglis, a prisoner, admitted assaulting the victim to his severe injury on March 18 after entering his home on Torwoodlee Road in Galashiels, Borders.
During the attack he seized him by the neck and repeatedly discharged the stun gun at his body, punched and kicked him and struck him with the knife.
He also admitted the illegal possession of an electronic stun gun disguised as a torch.
Lord Armstrong imposed a sentence of five and a half years.
