Airbus deal helps secure jobs boost for Prestwick firm
Spirit Aerosystems are poised to add up to 100 new positions as part of A320 deal.
An Ayrshire firm has received a jobs boost after winning a £2.7m contract to manufacture carbon wing components for the Airbus A320 aircraft.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon confirmed 100 jobs will be created at Spirit AeroSystems during a visit to Prestwick Airport on Thursday.
The firm's main work is in manufacturing parts for other Airbus jets with a company spokesman confirming additional jobs would be created to meet new demands.
Spirit has previously benefited from £2.1m funding from Scottish Enterprise towards research and development projects.
Ms Sturgeon said: "I am determined that Scotland leads on the key technological and social changes.
"I want Scotland to be the inventor and producer of the innovations that shape the future - not just a consumer of them."
