Scottish athletics star Eilidh Doyle has raced a dog in a bid to raise awareness and funds for the animals in the Ayrshire area.

The 400m runner, who captained Great Britain at this month's World Championships in London, took on a border collie called Bran on the track at Grangemouth.

The Scottish SPCA said Doyle was given "a run for her money" by Bran.

The event was part of the the charity's Pound for Paws campaign during September, which encourages people to walk, jog or run to raise cash.

Doyle, 30, was part of the British team that claimed silver in the 4x400m relay at the Olympic Stadium and hopes the campaign will help people become more active.

She said: "Animals bring so much joy to their owners and they all deserve caring families, which is why I want to help promote Scottish SPCA Pound for Paws.

"It's also a great way for people to get active and help raise money for the charity."
