The Scottish SPCA has received over 40 grit bins from a South Ayrshire salt company.

Peacock Salt in Ayr is the UK's largest commercial salt supplier and distributor of winter road salt & equipment, water softening products, food salt, industrial and cosmetics salts.

The animal welfare charity received four bins for each one of their centres, which will help with storing dry food.

Glasgow animal rescue and re-homing centre manager Anna O'Donnell said: "These bins are ideal for storing dry food and we'll be able to use them throughout the centre."

"It's a very generous donation which will make everyday life at the centre easier as we'll be able to be even more organised with our storage.

"As an animal welfare charity we receive no government or lottery funding so we rely entirely on the support of the public.

"Without these donations we would not be able to continue our vital work rescuing and re-homing abandoned and unwanted animals in Scotland."

Fraser Ferguson from Peacock Salt said: "At Peacock Salt we pride ourselves in undertaking a charity challenge every year.

"This year we had overstocks of grit bins and the Scottish SPCA immediately sprung to mind as we are all animal lovers at Peacocks and we are delighted to have been able to donate the grit bins to a truly fantastic charity."
