Police have revealed that a man missing from an Irvine hospital for three weeks was last seen in Glasgow.

Gordon Wilson, 47, left a ward within Woodland View Hospital on Sunday July 2. He left to go for a walk but did not return.

On Monday July 3, Gordon was then seen at Oswald Street, Glasgow in the early afternoon.

He described as white, 5ft 8 inches in height, of slim build, with thinning shoulder length greying hair. When last seen, he was wearing blue jeans, a blue jumper with a hood and grey trainers with white soles.

Sergeant Billy Campbell, Irvine Police Office, said: "Gordon has been missing before but not usually for this length of time.

"He is known to travel throughout Scotland hitch-hiking or on foot, heading as far as the Highlands.

"When he heads off on these treks, he sometimes sleeps outside but not with camping equipment, so has been known to use golf courses or parks to bed down for the night.

"He hasn't taken any of his medication with him so, as time passes, police are becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare.

"I would ask members of the public to contact us if they have seen Gordon at all, or maybe keep an eye out for him, or evidence of someone sleeping rough, particularly if out walking in open parks or golf courses."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Irvine Police Station via 101 quoting reference 1847 of Sunday 2 July 2017.
