Landyard colour complaints 'a waste of time', say Tories
South Ayrshire Council say alternative colours have been made available to staff.
Conservative councillors in South Ayrshire have branded complaints over the colour of staff landyards as "a waste of time".
Opposition politicians raised the objections to the shade of blue used on the landyards, claiming it resembled the traditional shade of the Tory party.
The Conservatives hold 12 of the 28 seats on the council with nine SNP representatives as well as five Labour and two Independents.
Ayr West councillor Derek McCabe was quoted as calling the move "a waste of time" with a party spokesman confirming to STV "that is our position".
A spokesman for South Ayrshire Council said other colours, including black were available.
He said: "Security plays an important role at county buildings and our ID badges help to easily identify people that have been cleared for access.
"We were recently asked to provide an alternative colour of lanyard for councillors, which have now been made available to all those who want them."
