A fresh appeal has been issued for a man who went missing from a hospital in Irvine two weeks ago.

Gordon Wilson has not been seen since leaving Woodland View at 9am on Sunday, July 2.

The 47-year-old told staff he was going for a walk but failed to return, with police increasingly concerned for his welfare.

He described as white, 5ft 8in, of slim build, with thinning shoulder length greying hair.

When last seen, he was wearing blue jeans, a blue jumper with a hood and grey trainers with white soles.

Sergeant Billy Campbell said: "Gordon has been missing before but not usually for this length of time.

"He is known to travel throughout Scotland hitch-hiking or on foot, heading as far as the Highlands.

"When he heads off on these treks, he sometimes sleeps outside but not with camping equipment so has been known to use golf courses or parks to bed down for the night."

He added: "He hasn't taken any of his medication with him so, as time passes, police are becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare.

"I would ask members of the public to contact us if they have seen Gordon at all, or maybe keep an eye out for him, or evidence of someone sleeping rough, particularly if out walking in open parks or golf courses."

Anyone with information should contact police on 101.
