A free large-scale fireworks display will take place at Irvine harbour this weekend.

The display is part of a series events in the area to celebrate the Scottish Open golf championship at Dundonald Links.

Members of the public should arrive at the open air event before the start at 10am, with the first fireworks poised for 10.30am.

They will be fired from the site of the Big Idea, with Irvine harbour the best setting to watch the show.

Some of world's best golfers are in Ayrshire to step up their preparations for next week's Open Championship.

Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler and reigning champion Henrik Stenson are all competing at the course.
