Drivers in Cumnock have been warned they face disruption, with the village's main street to shut for major resurfacing work.

Glaisnock Street will be shut from the junction at Hall Terrace to the junction at Wylie Crescent for ten days.

Work is due to start on Monday, July 31, with the road out of use between 8am and 6pm each day.

In addition to improving the surface, road markings and ironware will be renewed on the route.

An alternative route will be signed via the B7083 to Skerrington roundabout onto the A76 Cumnock by-pass, A70 towards Cumnock onto Ayr Road, before re-joining Glaisnock Street and vice versa.

The Ayrshire Roads Alliance on behalf of East Ayrshire Council has apologised in advance for any inconvenience caused by the works.
