Garnock Rugby Club agree deal for ground in Kilbirnie
North Ayrshire Council have approved an asset transfer process.
Garnock Rugby Club have received a boost after plans to buy ground at Kilbirnie Lochshore were approved.
North Ayrshire Council's cabinet gave the green light to proposals to gain ownership or a long lease of the area.
The group have revealed their desire to improve facilities in the area after their previous ground was hit with subsidence issues.
Some conditions still apply to the deal with the local authority agreeing to the deal in principle.
Councillor Louise McPhater said: "Community asset transfers provide an opportunity for people to be involved in developing and providing opportunities or services for their local communities.
"The rugby club deserve credit for what they are achieving for the sport in the Garnock Valley area and their efforts to encourage healthy lifestyles."
