Officers in East Ayrshire have responded to public concerns about speeding motorists on the B741 near New Cumnock.

After patrolling the area, 13 drivers were reported for alleged speeding offences and additional drivers were given fixed penalty notices for driving offences, including no seatbelt and no MOT.

One driver was also reported for alleged drug offences on the road, with another driving almost 30mph over the speed limit.

Speaking about the activity, sergeant Cat Gibbons said: "If anyone has any concerns about their local area, they shouldn't delay in reporting them to us.

"This particular activity followed numerous complaints about speeding drivers on the B741.

"Speed limits are there to be adhered to and if drivers ignore them, they can expect to face the consequences."
