Welcome to Scotland from the Roadside, a weekly gallery showcasing some of the best images from around the country taken by you.

From opportune moments shot on smartphones to breathtaking landscapes captured in high definition, each week we share a selection of interesting pictures taken by people on their travels around Scotland.

We've partnered up with the Scotland from the Roadside Facebook group, a popular destination for trading photos and stories, which has drawn in more than 100,000 members.

Each week, we ask the page's creators, Bruce Philip and Linda Curran, to select their favourite photographs posted by keen snappers.

This week, photographers have been sharing images from across the country, from magicial waterfuls to stunning sunsets.

Allotments by Fiona Maclean

"I took this one today in Alness, Ross-shire," explains Fiona.

"I live nearby and regulary go wee adventures in local fields with my four-year-old son. Top right of the pic you can see the three top legs of a rig in the Cromarty Firth."

The last boat into the harbour by Samuel Quinn

"I wanted to try and get a nice image from Maidens harbour, my local harbour," Samuel says.

"I was lucky to see a boat coming in so I waited until it had entered then took the shot.

"South Ayrshire has some of the most scenic coastline in the UK."

Dusk at Balmedie beach by Lee Fowlie

"I live in Balmedie and often walk the dog along the beach," Lee says.

"That night I took my camera with me on the off chance of some photos at dusk. The leading lines of the board walk caught my eye and it tied in nicely with the available light in the sky at the time.

"Balmedie is an amazing beach. The sand dunes and the stream that flows here are forever changing and no two days are ever the same.

"Highly recommend folk visit it, especially for a sunrise."

Buckholm Tower by Gillian Watson

"I live close by and used to visit my grandpa who was the shepherd at Buckholm Farm in the 1970s," explains Gillian.

"This is part of a walk called the Buckholm Circular near Galashiels."

The Loup of Fintry at sunset by Allan Donald

"The Loup of Fintry on the River Endrick is one of my favourite photo locations," says Allan.

"If you catch it on an evening with the setting sun lighting the sky it can look quite magical."

Thistles from the roadside by Duncan Martin

"During a round trip from Inverness via Fort Augustus I stopped by Loch Tarff to try and find the spot from where a small part of Local Hero was filmed," explains Duncan.

"Returning to the car, I noticed the thistles and since I have recently began experimenting with depth of field, decided to give it a go.

"A worthwhile pitstop indeed."

Leith Walk early in the morning by Glenn McNaughton

"I work on Leith Walk and on nightshifts, I take the camera so I can have a walk around Edinburgh at 6am," Glenn says.

"At 4.30am this morning I walked up onto our roof just as day was breaking but still some nice night lights."

The cottage at the Braes by Daniel de Graaf

"This photo was taken on the Isle of Skye. I'm from the Netherlands and every year for 12 years I'll come to Scotland," says Daniel.

"It feels like coming home! I love the people, the landscape and above all the mountains. In Scotland I discovered real scrambling. And what better place for good scrambles is Skye's Cuillin.

"This June I stayed in the cottage Cnoc Uaine. A remote self-catering cottage in the Braes. Beautiful place, because of the mountain behind it (Glamaig) and the telephone and postbox.

"The weather that week was terrible, because everyday it was raining. So I did little climbing.

"But the last day in the afternoon the sun came in and I was lucky to take this shot. Most of the photos I make are on and around the mountains and remoteness of Scotland. But this one does still justice to this theme."

Angus's artwork shared by Isobel Jackson

"I gave Angus the good news and he was well chuffed and said thank you very much for choosing his picture," explains Amie Jackson, Angus' mother.

"The picture was done with pastels on black paper. [Angus'] class was doing an art session based on Scotland and were sho wn the Highland cow by Steven Brown and we're asked to do their own."
