Arran ferry returns to service after technical repairs
The vessel was taken out of the water on Thursday, June 8
A lifeline island ferry has resumed service in the Firth of Clyde after almost two weeks in dry dock.
The MV Isle of Arran, which services the route between Ardrossan and Brodick, was taken out of the water on Thursday, June 8, to undergo serious technical repairs.
A sister ship ensured the ferry service kept running.
Operator Caledonian MacBrayne described the engine damage of the MV Isle of Arran ferry as "significant", requiring her return to dry dock for repairs lasting almost a fortnight.
The ferry, which provides up to ten sailings a day, was due to return to service on Friday, June 16, but this was delayed when the scale of the repair work became apparent.
A spokesman for CalMac said: "We are pleased to advise repairs to the MV Isle of Arran have been completed. Service will operate on Thursday, 22 June."
