A further three men have been charged in connection with the death of a man in a "large scale disturbance" in Aberdeenshire.

Gary Clampett, 39, was found dead at a property in Fernie Place, Fraserburgh, around 4am on Sunday.

On Tuesday, two men appeared in court charged with his murder.

Barry Martin, 31, and Joseph Martin, 39, both of Fraserburgh, appeared at Peterhead Sheriff Court charged with murder and attempted murder.

They were remanded in custody and their case is expected to call again next week.

Police confirmed three more men - aged 36, 44 and 46 - have been arrested over Mr Clampett's death.

They are expected to appear in Peterhead Sheriff Court later on Wednesday.

Detective inspector Gary Winter of the Major Investigation Team, who is leading the inquiry, said: "Our enquiries are continuing and a police presence will remain in the area at this time."
