US troops wounded and Afghan soldier killed in attack
An Afghan soldier was killed after a colleague opened fire at a base in northern Afghanistan.
Seven US servicemen were wounded and one Afghan soldier was killed in an insider shooting at a base in northern Afghanistan.
An Afghan soldier opened fire inside the facility, a spokesman for the Afghan army's 209th Corps said.
A spokesman for the US military confirmed the attack, adding that early reports suggesting that Americans had been killed were incorrect.
The Taliban has claimed it was behind the attack in a statement saying a commando loyal to the militant group had opened fire on foreign "invaders".
