Road closure as Scottish Water project begins in Irvine
The busy lane on Long Drive will be out of use from Monday.
Drivers are being advised of a lane closure on Long Drive as work begins on a major Scottish Water project.
The water giant is set to begin work on a new £24m strategic water main on Monday, which will cause a stretch of the northwest-bound lane, near Hill roundabout, to be closed.
The busy lane will be out of use from Monday until June 31 to enable work to be carried out on connecting the new water main to the existing network.
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation to enable two-way traffic on the affected stretch of road.
Scottish Water started work in September 2016 on the construction of the 7.3-mile water main south of Drybridge, near Dreghorn, to the west of Eglinton Country Park.
The investment will benefit customers in Irvine, Kilwinning, Stevenston, Dreghorn, Drybridge and parts of Saltcoats.
The new main will replace an existing main whose route goes through more built-up areas, including the north east of Irvine and parts of Bourtreehill, Broomlands and Dreghorn.
