Rush hour commuters have been hit by delays after a section of the M74 was closed following a crash.

The collision, involving two cars, happened just before 4.40am on Monday near Lockerbie at Junction 18.

A section of the road heading southbound has been shut.

It is not yet known if anyone has been injured.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "The road will be closed while police investigations are ongoing.

"Diversions are currently being put in place."
