An Ayr woman celebrated her 100th birthday on Thursday.
Sarah Beatson from Doonfoot was born in Paisley on April 8, 1917, in the middle of the Great War.
She was introduced to her future husband William by a friend before the start of the Second World War.
Sarah was in the Auxiliary Territorial Service for three years based in Leeds, while William served in the 8th Army in the Tank Corps in the Western Desert.
The pair married in Glasgow in 1943 and lived in Paisley until semi-retirement, when they moved to Doonfoot.
Sarah and William have one child, Jim, born in 1944, and have two grandchildren, Rosalind and Stuart.
Living a long and happy life is a family tradition as Sarah's mother received a telegram from the Queen on her 100th birthday and Sarah's grandmother, who was originally from Tiree, lived until 99.
Sarah was visited by South Ayrshire provost Helen Moonie on April 7 and presented with a card to celebrate the occasion.
