The MV Isle of Arran is to be docked until Thursday to undergo technical repairs.

The popular ferry, which operates up to ten sailings a day, has not sailed since Thursday June 8.

All MV Caledonian Isles sailings are operating to timetable while its sister boat is out of use.

A spokesperson said: "Repairs to MV Isle of Arran will take some time and as a result all MV Isle of Arran sailings up to and including Thursday 15th June have been cancelled.

"We are looking into contingency plans and looking at all options to accommodate affected passengers.

"We apologise for the disruption caused to our customers."

North Ayrshire Council have also had to suspend their surfacing works on the island due to the ferry cancellations.

Sheila Gilmore of VisitArran said: "Unfortunately due to the recent and ongoing technical difficulties with the Isle of Arran ferry and the resultant affect to our material deliveries, NAC have had to suspend their surfacing works on the Isle of Arran.

"They have been advised that deliveries of surfacing material should commence as usual on 15th June and plan to recommence works on that date.

"An updated programme of works will be issued once confirmed."
