A Kilmarnock man shocked fans of Channel 4's First Dates on Tuesday.

Singles John and Greig were paired up for the latest episode of the dating show, which offers an inside look at blind dates inside a busy London restaurant.

John, a bar owner from Kilmarnock, shocked fans when he stopped the date mid-meal after a cigarette break, telling his date he did not find him attractive and asked him to leave.

He said: "It sounds really bad, but I don't find you attractive.

"You're a really genuine guy, and we seem to get along but I don't have that connection with you, so what's the point of staying and having dinner and main courses, you know."

After his date left, John decided to stay in the restaurant and enjoy his steak meal alone.

Twitter users were quick to comment on his behaviour, with many saying he was the "rudest contestant on the show so far".
