Glenafton secured a league and cup double after a 2-1 victory over Auchinleck Talbot in the Scottish Junior Cup final.

Alan Cairns struck 12 minutes from time with a thunderous strike from outside the box to see the men from New Cumnock lift the trophy for the first time since 1993.

Glenafton had beaten Auchinleck to the league title last month but it was Auchinleck who took the lead at Rugby Park.

Keir Milliken slotted home to finish a fine counter attack before Cameron Marlow volleyed in an equaliser after 27 minutes.

With the prospect of penalties looming, Cairns unleashed a fierce shot from outside the area that gave the goalkeeper no chance.

The 4300 Glens fans were left to celebrate a remarkable triumph with their heroes.
