Schools across Ayrshire have been named finalists in the 2017 Scottish Education Awards.

Five primary schools and two individuals have been recognised in the annual awards, which were first launched in 2001.

The awards offer a wide variety of categories which are linked to the Curriculum for Excellence programme.

St Winning's, St Mary's, Willowbank, Corsehill and Tarbolton primary schools have been selected as finalists and have been invited to the awards ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow on June 7.

The winners of the school categories will receive a trophy, a certificate and a £400 prize. Runner-up schools will receive a certificate and £200.

Walter Smith from Greenwood Academy and David Watson from Forehill Primary have also been recognised and are finalists in the Educational Supporter of the Year and Headteacher of the Year categories respectively.

The winners of the individual categories will receive a trophy, a certificate and £400 for their school. Runners-up will receive a certificate and £200 for their school.
