College issues warning after students caught on railway
The students are allegedly jumping over a fence at the side of the campus.
Ayrshire College have said they have been contacted by Police Scotland after students were found on the nearby railway line.
The students are allegedly jumping over a fence at the side of the college's Kilmarnock campus and using the lines as a shortcut to reach platforms.
The station, which has four platforms, is used daily by trains servicing Glasgow, Dumfries, Carlisle, Newcastle and Stranraer.
The college posted an update on their Facebook page concerning the trespassers.
They said: "We have been informed by the police that there are students jumping over the fence at the side of the Kilmarnock campus and crossing the railway lines to access the platforms at the train station.
"These lines are live and this is a busy line with trains passing through regularly. Crossing the lines puts lives at risk and is also a criminal offence.
"The lines are covered by CCTV and anyone crossing them could be identified.
"To ensure your safety and avoid a potential criminal record and hefty fine, please don't use the railway line as a shortcut."
