Cancer charity to set sail from Largs in 2400-mile voyage
The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust Round Britain relay will journey 2400 miles.
A charity helping young people in the recovery stages of cancer is attempting to sail round the coastline of Britain.
The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust Round Britain relay will travel 2400 miles and sets sail from Largs Yacht Haven on Saturday.
The sailing adventure will involve 100 young people who will spend 120 days touring the coast of Britain before returning to Largs on September 23.
The voyage is to be a celebration of recovery, achievement and potential, and the crew will be engaging with local hospitals and other young people still undergoing treatment for cancer.
Speaking on the trust's website, crew member Jake Peach said he is looking forward to beginning the first leg of the journey in Largs.
He was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia in 2008 and went on his first voyage during his recovery.
Jake said: "I'm very proud and honoured to be part of the trust's Round Britain 2017 voyage.
"It's something I am incredibly excited about and can't wait to spread the message of the trust and the great work they do day in, day out."
