The list of candidates for two key Ayrshire constituencies at next month's general election have been announced.

Corri Willson will aim to retain her seat for Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock after being named as the Scottish National Party's candidate.

She will take on Carol Mochan(Labour), Bill Grant (Conservative) as well as Callum Leslie (Scottish Lib Dems) in the region.

Philippa Whitford (SNP) is also looking to win the Central Ayrshire constituency for the second time.

She is up against Caroline Martin (Conservative), Tom Inglis (Lib Dems) and Nairn McDonald (Labour).

Voters will go to the polls on June 8 with midnight on Monday, May 22, the last day to register to vote.

Applications for postal votes can be made up until May 23, with the late proxy deadline on May 31.
