The Scottish SPCA centre in Ayr have raised £5508 with the help of a local Marks & Spencer store.

Scotland's animal welfare charity has been overwhelmed by the generous support of the local community in Ayrshire.

Centre manager Marion Hainey said, "Centre staff and volunteers have been bag packing in our local M&S store over the past year.

"The staff from Marks and Spencer have also been fundraising on our behalf.

"We're so pleased to have been nominated as the branches charity of the year and appreciate all the support they have shown us! We would also like to say a special thank you to all M&S customers who showed their support.

"As an animal welfare charity we receive no government or lottery funding so we rely entirely on the support of the public.

"Without these donations we would not be able to continue our vital work rescuing and rehoming abandoned and unwanted animals in Scotland."
