Two festivals planned for a football stadium next month have been cancelled by organisers.

The Hands Up and Studio 54 events, due to be held at the Falkirk Stadium on June 3 and 4, will now no longer take place.

Happy Mondays were supposed to headline the Hands Up event, scheduled for the Saturday.

Acts such as Gloria Gaynor, Village People and Boney M were due to perform on Sunday for Studio 54.

Ticket prices began between £39.50 on Saturday and £45 on Sunday.

A statement on the Falkirk FC website said the promoters would not host the events because of financial difficulties.

Those with tickets have been asked to contact the organisers directly, rather than the club.

The statement read: "'These Events Ltd', the promoter of the two concerts planned for 3rd and 4th June 2017 at the Falkirk Stadium has today confirmed that owing to financial difficulties encountered by them, they are unable to proceed with the planned concerts.

"Falkirk Football Club's sole involvement was the hire of the venue to the promoter and we regrettably are unable to provide any further information regarding this matter.

"Instead, ticket holders should contact the promoters, These Events, directly by e-mail on theseevents2@gmail.com or by telephone on 07886 242008 or 07447 350518."

STV News has contacted the firm for a comment.
