An Ardrossan couple have tied the knot upon one of Ayrshire's most well-known vessels - the Caledonian Isles Arran ferry.

Dana and Gordon McBlain have been together for three years and when the pair got engaged they decided to make their wedding ceremony a little different.

The newlywed couple recited their vows on the observation deck of the Arran ferry, which had been decorated for the occasion.

Dana's two-year-old nephew also played a part as the page boy on the special day.

"The ceremony was lovely," says Dana, 29. "Our close family and friends were all there."

The duo officially became husband and wife on Arran waters. With a shared love of sailing, it is not the first time Dana and Gordon have celebrated on the boat.

"We had my birthday on the ferry one year," explains Dana, who currently works as a carer with North Ayrshire Council.

"It's special to us and we just love sailing."

Calmac congratulated the couple on its Facebook page, saying: "Congratulations and all the best for the future."
