Celtic star's support for Dalry teenager battling cancer
Natalie Smith was told last week that she had Hodgkin's lymphoma.
A Dalry teenager diagnosed with blood cancer has said she is "overwhelmed" after receiving messages of support from Celtic star Kieran Tierney.
Natalie Smith, 18, was told last week that she had Hodgkin's lymphoma - an uncommon cancer that develops in the lymphatic system.
She received countless messages from friends and family following her diagnosis but the Celtic fan did not expect to hear from left-back Kieran Tierney.
Just hours before the Old Firm match, the Celtic star took to Twitter to contact Natalie.
He wrote: "Hi Natalie, gutted to hear about your news. I'm just giving you a message to tell you to keep strong and always be yourself and whatever you do, always have a smile on your face.
"There's a lot of people supporting you. Keep strong and keep watching Hannah Montana haha."
When she first saw the message, Natalie was "genuinely overwhelmed".
She said: "I've always been a fan - my family have always been Celtic daft.
"He's sent a few messages wishing me well after my results as well - it's really raised my spirits."
