Scottish SPCA calls for help to rehome neglected pets
Locals are being urged to raise funds ahead of Rehoming Week in May.
The Scottish SPCA is urging people to volunteer and help raise funds for abused, abandoned and injured pets in Scotland.
The push comes ahead of the charity's rehoming week in May and it hopes Ayrshire residents will help by joining in with street collections.
Last year, its centre in Ayr took in and rehomed 212 neglected pets, and 2017 is set to be just as challenging.
Marion Hainey, Ayr animal rescue and rehoming centre manager said "During rehoming week we have opportunities to fundraise throughout Scotland.
"It's a great opportunity to spend time with friends, or to come along and meet new people as part of our supporter groups, and help make a real difference to pets in Scotland.
"Even if someone can only spare an hour or two, their time and efforts would be hugely appreciated."
Rehoming week begins on May 4, and anyone who would like to help raise funds for the Scottish SPCA or join their local supporter group can contact the fundraising team on 03000 999 999 (option 4) or email fundraising@scottishspca.org.
