McIntyre: Ross County will accept Schalk diving ban
The forward is expected to be cited by the SFA over the incident against Celtic.
Ross County manager Jim McIntyre says the club will accept any ban the SFA choose to impose on Alex Schalk following the player's controversial dive against Celtic at the weekend.
The forward went to ground with no contact from a Celtic player as his side trailed 2-1 going into the closing stages of the game.
Referee Don Robertson awarded the spot kick, which Liam Boyce converted to earn his side a point.
The incident is expected to be reviewed by the Scottish FA's compliance officer on Wednesday and the player could be offered a two-match ban.
McIntyre said the player has apologised for his dive and confirmed the club will accept any ban that comes his way.
He said: "Of course we are, we know it's going to come and we will accept the punishment.
"Alex was in the wrong, there was no contact, he has came and apologised to me personally.
"He is very upset about it because he has never been involved in an incident like this before, he's never been booked for simulation so he was very distraught about it when he reviewed the footage back.
"It doesn't look good, we as a club will take that punishment on the chin and Alex and I have had a conversation about it and it won't happen again."
McIntyre said the controversy will affect the Dutch forward's reputation within Scottish football but challenges his player to prove his critics wrong.
He said: "His reputation will be tarnished but as I say he has never been involved in an incident like this before, he has ever been booked for simulation.
"From our point of view we know that Alex will be getting looked at because he has done it before but it is up to Alex to make sure that he is not involved in any other scenarios."
Ross County sit eighth in the Premiership table, eight points above the relegation spot and three spots ahead of 11th-placed Dundee.
The Staggies travel to Dundee next weekend in the first round of fixtures after the split.
