Man dragged screaming out of 1980s festival after police brawl
Robert Tennant was ejected from Rewind in Scone, which featured Adam Ant and Rick Astley.
A middle-aged festivalgoer was dragged screaming from a show featuring 1980s legends Rick Astley and Adam Ant after brawling with police.
Police reinforcements had to be called in before Robert Tennant, 49, was wrestled into handcuffs and leg restraints and hauled out of the Rewind Festival at Scone Palace.
On Thursday at Perth Sheriff Court, engineer Tennant was told by a sheriff he was "an idiot."
Tennant, of Aberdeen, admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing, behaving aggressively and uttering violent threats.
He also admitted resisting police at Rewind on July 23 last year by struggling violently with them.
Fiscal depute Robbie Brown told the court: "There had been an incident in which the accused sustained a cut to his hand. Various staff members including first aiders attended.
"He was bleeding quite heavily. Police were alerted. He acted aggressively and refused treatment. Security staff told first aiders to stop treating him for their own safety.
"He was told to calm down but continued acting aggressively and was flailing his arms around. Further police units attended and tried to calm him down.
"Tennant was shouting, 'You don't know who I am. I'll kill your family. I'll get you tonight.'
Officers tried to restrain him but initially struggled to bring him under control as he continued to flail his arms and pushed them away.
Mr Brown said police eventually managed to drag the burly oil industry worker to the ground and placed handcuffs and leg restraints on him. Tennant continued to shout and swear.
Solicitor Billy Somerville, defending, said: "He had consumed alcohol and thoughts things were happening to his wife, although that has not been accepted by the police."
Tennant was taken to Ninewells Hopsital in Dundee to have his injury treated.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis fined Tennant £900 and told him: "You were coming up to 49 at the time and you were behaving like an idiot."
