Concern is growing for a 24-year-old man reported missing in Edinburgh.

Daniel McColm, a former Countdown champion, was last seen in Potterow at around 5.30pm on Thursday.

He is described as white with short brown hair and wearing a black coat, blue jeans and carrying an orange carrier bag.

Friends and family grew worried for his welfare after he failed to return to his home in the Bellevue area and police have since launched an investigation.

Inspector Neil Clyde said: "Daniel hasn't been seen since Thursday evening, nor has he been in contact with any family or friends.

"As such, we are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare and are eager to hear from anyone who can help us locate him.

"I would also urge Daniel to get in touch with us as soon as possible to let us know he is safe."

Originally from Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, Daniel was crowned Countdown champion in 2014 after winning every round.
