A man has been charged after a lorry crashed into a row of parked cars, smashed a wall and came to a halt in a residential garden.

The collision happened in Cupar Road, Guardbridge, near St Andrews, at around 10.30am on Saturday.

A skip lorry crashed into parked vehicles, lampposts and a wall before leaving the road and driving into a number of roadside gardens, according to police.

The driver of the lorry escaped with minor injuries and no one else was hurt.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "The road was closed for around seven hours to recover the damaged vehicles and to allow investigation to take place.

"A 54 year old man has been charged and a report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal."

Anyone who saw the crash is asked to contact the Fife Road Policing Unit at Glenrothes Police Station on 101.
