A driver whose disappearance on the snow-hit A9 sparked an urgent search has been traced safe and well.

Brian Hunter was reported missing after leaving his workplace at Malcolm Logistics in Lauriston Road, Grangemouth, on Thursday morning.

There were serious concerns that Mr Hunter had got into difficulty while driving on the A9 towards Perth in the wintry weather.

The route was hit by heavy snow and ice throughout Thursday, leading to several accidents including one in which a lorry jack-knifed.

Police confirmed that the 38-year-old had been found safe in the early hours of Friday.

They thanked the public for their assistance.
