A driver was trapped in his car after it overturned in a crash on a country road.

Firefighters freed the motorist from his vehicle around half an hour after they were alerted to the incident.

The man suffered injuries in the crash in Angus at around 9.50pm on Sunday.

The collision occurred near Braefoot Cottage at Dunnichen, near Forfar.

A fire service spokeswoman said: "At 9.48pm on Sunday, we received a report of a one-vehicle collision with one male trapped.

"Two appliances from Forfar attended and we managed to get him free without the use of cutting equipment."

The man was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for treatment, although the extent of his injuries is not yet known.
