Rare £5 note worth £50,000 found in Scot's Christmas card
The second of the four notes in circulation was discovered in the Scottish Borders on Thursday.
The second of four rare £5 notes engraved with an image of author Jane Austen has been found in Scotland.
The note, which could be worth up to £50,000, was discovered inside a Christmas card in the Scottish Borders on Thursday.
And it now means that the search is on for the final remaining notes in circulation around the UK.
The images on the notes were created by specialist micro-engraver Graham Short, who travelled to different locations in the UK to spend them.
Each image of the 'Pride and Prejudice' author is surrounded by a unique quote from some of Austen's most celebrated novels.
Anyone who finds one of the notes is urged to contact the Tony Huggins-Haig Gallery in Kelso, Roxburghshire, which launched the project.
The person who found the note wishes to remain anonymous.
Tony Huggins-Haig said: "It was given in a Christmas card. The recipient and person just thought it was a normal fiver.
"They just got in touch on the off-chance, but are now the owner of a fantastic piece of art.
"It has given both those who found them so far a fantastic Christmas and could be a nice windfall if they decide to sell."
The finder of the most recent note is planning to meet up with artist Graham Short, and Mr Huggins-Haig paid tribute to those who had discovered the first two.
"Two out of four have now been found, and It's brilliant everyday working people who have found them and the artworks will make an amazing difference to them," he explained.
