A search for a missing man on the River Tay has entered a third day.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident near the Queen's Bridge in Perth at around 9pm on Monday and launched a major search operation.

The man seen in the water is believed to be Iain Guthrie, a 20-year-old man who was reported missing a short time afterwards.

Police officers, firefighters, the RNLI and coastguard teams stood down at 3am on Tuesday before resuming the search early on Wednesday morning amid difficult weather conditions.

A coastguard helicopter has also been assisting with efforts to trace Mr Guthrie.

Anyone who has seen the missing man, who is 5ft 9in, with a slim build, short black hair and brown eyes, is asked to contact police on 101.

He was wearing a dark green fleece top, dark blue jeans and dark walking shoes when last seen.
