Elderly residents have been evacuated after a fire broke out in a Fife sheltered housing complex.

Four fire engines, police and paramedics were sent to the scene at Walter Hay Court in Rosyth, just off the A985, shortly after 10am on Friday.

Firefighters remain in attendance at the incident. The extent of the blaze is not yet known.

The sheltered housing complex is made up of 30 houses for elderly residents.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "We attended along with local ambulance crew and a specialist ambulance response team.

"Two bystanders were checked over by paramedics and were not required to go to hospital."

A police spokeswoman said: "Police in Fife are in attendance following a fire at an address in Walter Hay Court, Rosyth.

"The incident happened around 10am on Friday. Police and emergency services are currently at the scene and enquiries are ongoing.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101."
