Baby mauled to death by family dog in accident, inquest rules
The four-month-old boy was snatched out of his mother's arms and savaged in Essex.
A baby - snatched out of his mother's arms and savaged by the family dog - died as a result of an accident, an inquest has concluded.
Baby Archie Joe Darby died after being bitten by the Staffordshire bull-terrier type dog, called Bailey, at the house in Harwich Road, Colchester, on October 13.
Mother-of-two Jade Rogers was with her two young sons when the dog entered the room and attacked, a hearing at Essex Coroner's Court was told.
Miss Rogers managed to save her other son, Daniel-Jay, who was 22-months-old at the time.
Essex coroner Eleanor McGann praised the mother for "bravely" fighting off the aggressive animal during the "harrowing" attack.
