Firefighters battle extensive house blaze overnight
The fire broke out in a bathroom and spread to the attic space and roof.
Fire crews battled an extensive blaze which broke out at a Fife house in the early hours of the morning.
Residents raised the alarm at the two-storey property on Tay Street, Newport, shortly after 2am on Thursday.
The roof was well alight after the fire spread from an upstairs bathroom and into the attic space.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze using four breathing apparatus, three jets and a hose reel.
A height appliance was also used as a water tower to bring the fire under control.
A spokeswoman for the fire service said crews remained at the scene to dampen down and assist with salvage work.
They are expected to continue work at the property throughout Thursday morning.
No one was injured in the incident.
