Black Friday shoppers warned not to repeat chaotic scenes
Scuffles broke out at stores in Glasgow and Dundee during the sales event two years ago.
Shoppers over antisocial behaviour during the Black Friday sales this year.
Officers have attended shops in Glasgow and Dundee in recent years as scuffles broke out between members of the crowds of bargain hunters.
The retail event began in the US and has started to become more prominent in the UK recently, with several large firms trailing their sale offers ahead of this Friday.
After scenes of disorder at the Kingsway branch of Tesco in Dundee during 2014's Black Friday, Police Scotland urged shoppers to "refrain from antisocial behaviour" during this year's sales event.
Superintendent Graeme Murdoch said: "We work closely with retailers in the city centres and retail parks across Tayside to support them in preparing for Black Friday and officers will intervene if necessary to ensure public safety.
"Anyone caught committing an offence will be charged and reported to the procurator fiscal."
He added: "I would also like to remind members of the public to think about their security and safety whilst shopping online. Make sure your web browser and internet security is up to date.
"Check the website payment page is secure and look out for the padlock in the address line before you enter any bank card details.
"Shop with a reputable trader with a return policy because sometimes a bargain online is too good to be true."
Last year, there were no reports of disorder on Black Friday as shoppers instead opted to hunt for offers online.
Recently, Consumer watchdog Which? found 49% of last year's deals were not the cheapest on the day, with only 8% being one-day only offers.
