A 12-year-old boy has been charged in connection with a suspicious fire at a former hotel.

The blaze caused "significant damage" to the C-listed Lundin Links Hotel in Fife on Saturday.

Seven fire engines were called out to the property at around 8pm and battled for three hours to bring it under control.

Levenmouth CID confirmed on Wednesday that a 12-year-old boy had been charged.

His case will be referred to the Children's Reporter.

Police thanked the public for their help during the investigation.

The hotel was well known in the area and stopped trading around three years ago.
