A teenager has been sexually assaulted in a Fife fishing town, sparking a major police investigation.

The 18-year-old woman was attacked on Cunzie Street, Anstruther, in the early hours of Sunday.

Officers have issued an appeal for witnesses.

A police spokesman said: "Police in Fife are investigating following a report of a serious sexual assault of an 18-year-old woman in Cunzie Street, Anstruther.

"The incident happened around 1am on Sunday, November 20.

"Inquiries are currently ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101."
