As a Golden Labrador rolls happily in the grass, desperately trying to reach for her beloved tennis ball, a Greyhound stands by watching, happily letting his best friend steal the limelight.

Honey may steal the show a little, a playful dog that seems more like a pup at times, but her relationship with laidback Dillan has made the pair quite the double act at their local dog shelter.

Striking up an unlikely friendship and melting hearts ever since they arrived at the Dogs Trust's centre in West Calder, the ten-year-old dogs have become so inseparable that staff do not have the heart to rehome them separately.

"Honey and Dillan are very cute together and absolutely adore people," explains rehoming centre manager Susan Tonner.

"It isn't often that you see two very different breeds like Labradors and Greyhounds becoming best friends but when Honey and Dillan are together it just seems to work."

The playful pair both arrived at the rehoming centre on October 24 having been found together as strays.

Staff can't be too sure about their backgrounds before they came into the centre's care, but since being taken in, the pair have remained firm friends during their stay at the Dogs Trust.

Now potential new owners are being asked to rehome the pair together and avoid splitting the canine companions up.

Susan adds:"Dillan follows Honey's lead so we are certain she wears the trousers in this friendship!

"They would be best suited to a family with no other pets, as both like a relaxed home and enjoy getting as much attention as possible from their human companions"

The Dogs Trust say that both Honey and Dillan are happy around older children and would love to go for long walks together when they find their forever home.

"They need a family who would ideally have experience with dogs and space for two loveable characters," Susan adds.

"Honey and Dillan enjoy their walks so it is important their new owner will be able to manage two dogs when taking them out and about."
